Beautiful 19th century view of Baltimore
Description
This elegant steel engraving depicts Baltimore, as seen from – what we believe to be – Reservoir Hill, around the middle of the 19th century. Looking across the historical centre of Baltimore, the view takes in the Patapsco River, including South Baltimore / Locust Point, in the distance. At centre left, the Washington Monument is discernible. In the foreground, a pastoral scene adorns the view.
Engraved by [Hermann?] Ahrens.
A delightful look across historic Baltimore and its surroundings.
